Rocking Your Roller

 

Warning: When I discovered my spine, I started looking for Feldenkrais training programs the next week. This is our center of support, our uprightness and self-empowerment.

 

This series of lessons magnifies the movements of the spine and how we must counterbalance our upper and lower bodies to move upright through space.

 

It will improve your flexibility and stability as well as reestablish your connection to your righting reflexes for better balance.

 

Also included are Five-Minute Feldies for each lesson. They are short video lessons that you can do in five to ten minutes to reinforce the longer lessons.

 

  • Lengthening Your Spine on a Roller -- Lengthens the spine allowing for easier movement and less pain. It also improves balance and stability in all upright movement.
  • Pelvic Circles on a Roller -- Frees up the pelvis and connects it to our head through the spine. It taps into our instinctual righting reflexes for easier upright movement.
  • Spinal Chain on a Roller -- Gives sensory feedback to the spine so the nervous system learns how to connect the spine with the movements of the head and pelvis.
  • Prelude to Walking on a Roller -- Coordinates the movement of the shoulders and the hips so our muscles can use the minimum amount of effort to get us where we need to go.
  • Righting Reflexes on a Roller -- Explores our instinctual ability to counterbalance in space. It connects the back to the shoulders and hips for better balance and stability.
  • Washing Windows on a Roller -- Explores our instinctual ability to counterbalance in space. It connects the deep abdominals (TVA) to the shoulders and hips for better balance and stability.
