Supporting the Head and Neck

Supporting the Head and Neck

This six-lesson series is designed to reduce the tension and immobility in the neck by supporting the head with the spine, pelvis, abs and back.

The neck muscles alone do not hold up our head. When other muscles of the front and back aren't helping, the result is pain and difficulty.

These are my favorite lessons for reducing pain and tension in the neck.

Also included are Five-Minute Feldies for each lesson. They are short video lessons that you can do in five to ten minutes to reinforce the longer lessons.

  • Lengthening the Spine -- explores the connections between the head and the pelvis through the spine. Very relaxing.
  • A More Comfortable Neck  -- coordinates the movement of our heads with the movement of our shoulders and pelvis.
  • Activating the Flexors -- explores how our deep abdominal muscles work to help hold up our head.
  • Balancing the Tonus of the Back -- explores how our back muscles work to help hold up our head.
  • Coordinating the Flexors and Extensors -- coordinates the muscles of the front and the back to help support out head.
  • Head Circles -- differentiates the movement of the shoulder girdle and the head and integrates the movement with the pelvis. Great for neck mobility but not recommended for severe shoulder or neck pain.
